Anatrans is the biggest cashew processing plant in Burkina Faso. It has an installed processing capacity of over 6,000 Mtons of Raw Cashew Nuts on annual basis. The plant is located in Bobo-Dioulasso in the South-West of Burkina Faso. In this region approximately 35,000 MTon of Raw Cashews Nuts are grown by thousands of farmers.
In 2010, Anatrans started processing and is gradually grown to the biggest employer in Burkina Faso. Nowadays, Anatrans employs 1,500 people of which 80% is female! The people are working for a fair salary and under good working conditions. The factory itself is ACA Seal Certified.
The plant is closely collaborating with farmer groups by providing them trainings and a guaranteed take off for their raw cashew nuts. Based on the guaranteed take off, the farmers get access to micro finance.
Anatrans is directly working with farmers which are Fair Trade – and Organic certified. As Anatrans is also proud holder of these certificates, they are able to export a big portion of their cashew as Fair Trade and/or Organic product.
